The Federal Government has ordered the withdrawal of the case against Comfort Emmanson, the passenger involved in an incident aboard an Ibom Air flight on August 10, 2025.
The move will enable her release from detention this week.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said Ibom Air has withdrawn its complaint, while the Airline Operators of Nigeria agreed to lift the lifetime ban earlier placed on her.
He said that Emmanson had shown remorse during police questioning in the presence of her lawyer, and the police will now complete the process for her release from Kirikiri Prison.
In a related decision, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reduced the one-year flight ban on Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde, known as KWAM 1, to one month.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria will also partner with him to promote airport security awareness.
The NCAA will withdraw its criminal complaint against him, citing his public apology over his conduct at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025.
The NCAA will also restore the licenses of ValueJet pilots Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba after a one-month suspension and mandatory professional review.
Keyamo added that aviation and security agencies will hold a retreat next week to train personnel on conflict management with passengers, while airlines will review staff relations with travellers.
He said the decisions were taken on compassionate grounds to resolve the recent disputes in the sector.
