Fire razes former governor’s residence in Abuja

A fire has destroyed four of the five three-bedroom flats at a residential property on Nelson Mandela Street, Asokoro, Abuja.

Reports indicate the blaze began from solar panels on the roof of one building before spreading to the neighboring units.

The residence belongs to former Zamfara State governor, Senator Ahmed Yerima. Authorities confirmed that the fire started around 1:00 p.m.

No casualties were reported, but personal belongings including furniture, clothing, and food were lost in the fire.

Emergency responders from the Federal Emergency Management Department, Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency, and the FCT Police quickly arrived at the scene and contained the fire.
