Former House Speaker Dumps PDP for Ruling Party

Chukwuma Nwazunku, a former Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and former member of the House of Representatives representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this announcement during the APC congress held at Ugwuachara in Echiaba Ward.

Nwazunku was warmly welcomed into the APC along with other prominent PDP members, including Emeka Otozi, the party’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Ebonyi North.

The APC state chairman’s representative, Chief Patrick Orogbo, congratulated the new members for their decision and assured them of fair treatment and equal opportunities within the party.

He added that the APC values internal democracy, transparency, and inclusiveness regardless of their political history.

The APC chairman for Echiaba Ward, Nwofoke Amobi, praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for his impressive performance over the past two years.

Amobi noted that the governor’s achievements have reduced opposition in Ebonyi State and helped unite the political landscape.

After his defection, Nwazunku explained that although he remained physically in the PDP for some time, he had lost faith in the party because of its weakening unity and influence.

His decision to join the APC was motivated by the progress made by Governor Nwifuru and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu at the national level.

Nwazunku promised to rally his supporters to help the APC achieve success in the 2027 general elections.
