Former Nigerian Minister declared wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a wanted notice for Timipre Sylva, former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State.

Sylva is being accused of conspiracy and dishonest conversion involving $14,859,557.

The funds were part of a financial injection by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for refinery construction.

According to the anti-graft agency, the notice follows a Lagos State High Court warrant issued on November 6, 2025.

Sylva, 61, hails from Brass Local Government Area in Bayelsa State.

EFCC urged anyone with information about his location to contact its offices across Nigeria, including Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and other states, or report through 08093322644 and [email protected].

The EFCC has asked the public to assist in locating Sylva to ensure he faces investigation and legal proceedings regarding the alleged misappropriation.
