Former presidential aide urges President Tinubu to declare all-out war against insecurity

Former presidential media aide, Laolu Akande, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare an all-out war against rising insecurity, kidnapping, and criminality in Nigeria.

Former presidential media aide Laolu Akande has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against the escalating insecurity, kidnapping, and criminal activities plaguing Nigeria.

Speaking on the popular TV talk show, “Inside Sources,” in his segment ‘My Take’ on Channels TV, Akande expressed deep concern over the recent violent incidents and urged urgent measures to curb criminal acts nationwide.

In his address, Akande condemned the disturbing trend where entire communities are targeted by kidnappers, resulting in tragic consequences for innocent families.

He recounted a harrowing incident where a family’s firstborn was killed due to delayed ransom payment.

Akande asserted, “Time has come to have a special intervention force to deal with this situation. This is the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where we have the instruments of force and cohesion. Time has come, Mr. President, to declare an all-out war against every act of criminality in this country.”

Calling for adequate funding of the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akande challenged the Inspector General of Police and NSCDC Commandant to address the growing security concerns.

He urged the government to combat criminality and discourage online ransom payments that fuel criminal activities.

“Time has come to ensure by all means that there is effective funding of the Police and NSCDC especially to deal with what is becoming a troubling phenomenon in our country.

“We trust and believe that Mr President and his aides, the Inspector general of the police and the commandant general of NSCDC will rise to the situation and everyone that is involved in the security architecture of this country.

“We cannot afford to have a situation where this kind of criminality is been encouraged by people who have no other choice but to raise ransom online,” Akande said.
