Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Babatunde Mohammed, has left the party to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mohammed, who was Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly between 2009 and 2011 under the PDP, announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Agunjin Ward in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The letter confirmed his official withdrawal from the PDP, which he joined in 2002 and remained loyal to for 22 years.
He explained that his decision to quit was personal but added that he no longer saw any future in the party.
Mohammed recalled how he chose to stay in the PDP when many of its leaders in Kwara defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) years ago, stressing that his loyalty was unquestionable.
However, he said the party had become directionless, leading to his move to the ADC.
He expressed gratitude to PDP leaders and members for their support during his time as the state chairman, saying he had officially pitched his tent with the ADC as his new political home.
