Fresh Update Emerges As Tinubu Meets Wike, Fubara

President Bola Tinubu has brought key political figures in Rivers State together in an effort to resolve the prolonged crisis that has disrupted governance in the state.

On Thursday, he met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Martins Amaewhule, and other lawmakers from the state assembly.

This marks the first time Governor Fubara has been seen publicly with President Tinubu since March 18, when the president declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.

At that time, Tinubu suspended the governor, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the state House of Assembly.

Thursday’s meeting, however, is seen as a major breakthrough. Photos released afterwards showed Tinubu, Fubara, and Wike smiling together, hinting at successful reconciliation efforts.

According to sources at the presidency, the meeting helped mend the divide between the factions that have been at odds, raising hopes for political stability and progress in the oil-rich state.
