Ganduje gets new appointment after resigning as APC national chair

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

His appointment comes just days after resigning as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that Ganduje was appointed by President Bola Tinubu alongside 44 others as board chairmen of various federal agencies and parastatals.

The appointment was confirmed on Wednesday, July 9 during the inauguration of new boards for aviation agencies in Abuja.

The event was overseen by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

Ganduje, who is a former governor of Kano State, resigned from his APC position late last month.

Though he pointed to health issues as his reason for leaving, some APC members believe his decision was connected to ongoing talks about the possible return of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate, to the ruling party.

With this new role, Ganduje is now expected to lead the board that oversees Nigeria’s airport operations.
