The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated 21 new commissioners to join his cabinet.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Okpebholo urged the new appointees to align with his administration’s vision and demonstrate that “a new Edo has risen.”
The new commissioners include Barr. Vincent Osas Uwadia, Etin-osa Ogbeiwi, Saturday Uwuilekhue Idehen (JP), Charity Amayaenvbo, Barr. Nosa Adams, Yakubu Oshiorenua, Felix Akhabue, Prof. Omorodion Ignatius, and Ohimai Ehijimetor. Others are Eugenia Abdallah, Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi, Prince Kassim Afegbua, Dr. Jerry Uwangue, John Akhigbe, Festus Ebea, Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele, Dr. Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien, and Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie.
The governor also inaugurated chairmen and members of several state boards and commissions, including the Edo State Bursary and Scholarship Board, the Senior Secondary Education Board, the Law Reform Commission, the Lottery Regulatory Commission, and the Ecological Funding and Management Commission.
Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning Edo State for progress and sustainable development.
Recall that, between his inauguration on November 12, 2024, and January 2025, the governor had appointed nine commissioners. He continued governing with them until August 2025, when he began nominating a new set of commissioners.
From August 1 to October 3, 2025, 21 new nominees were submitted to the State House of Assembly, though one nominee, Hon. Chris Okaeben, has yet to be confirmed due to an alleged petition before the Department of State Services (DSS).
