Plateau Lawmaker kidnapped from residence

Gunmen have kidnapped Laven Jacob, who represents Pankshin South Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The incident occurred on Monday night at his residence in the Angwan Kaji area of Dong, Jos North Local Government Area.

According to sources close to Jacob, the assailants waited at the entrance of his home and seized him as he returned.

Two associates, a former aide from his time as Vice Chairman of Pankshin Local Government and a staff member of the State Assembly, confirmed the abduction but chose to remain anonymous.

The Plateau State Police confirmed receiving a report of the kidnapping on the evening of September 22, 2025.

Police teams from Rantya Division and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Jos were immediately deployed to search the surrounding areas and attempt to secure Jacob’s release.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Adesina, instructed all officers in the metropolis to join the operation and ensure the lawmaker is safely rescued.

As of now, no contact has been made with Jacob’s family, and the motive behind the abduction remains unclear.
