A fuel laden tanker has exploded opposite the University of Benin Teaching Hospital(UBTH) main gate in Benin city, Edo state.
According to reports the fire service have been battling to extinguish the fire which started in the early hours of the morning and continued till later.
The fire service was unable to salvage any part of the truck and our sources confirm that there were no ambulances or medical personnel present on the scene.

The assistant driver was however alleged to have lost his life in the incident.
Residents had gathered to watch the inferno as it the inferno died down after causing damage to the vehicle.
