Watford Captain Troy Deeny was delighted to see his former teammate and close friend Odion Ighalo seal a shock move to Manchester United on transfer deadline day.
Deeney recollected how Ighalo was desperate to score when they faced the Red Devils at Old Trafford during the 2015-2016 season in the Premier League and admitted that he lashed out at the former Nigeria international for being selfish.
“When we played Manchester United [in 2015/16] he built up this thing where he felt he had to score, especially after scoring against Liverpool before that,”
said Deeney to Reporters.
“He had about 19 shots in that game. He was desperate to score against United. He probably should have
passed to me for one of them, and we could have won!.
“I told him to calm down before the game, I wasn’t so nice after the game! We laugh about it ever since. I wish
him all the best.”
Ighalo will make his debut against Chelsea in a mouthwatering encounter on Feb 17th.
