Former Guinness World Record (GWR) holder, Hilda Baci, has announced plans to cook 250 bags of rice in what she describes as an attempt to set a new record for the world’s biggest jollof pot.
Hilda, who gained international recognition in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes, made the new plan public in a video shared on her Instagram page on Monday.
According to her, the ambitious project will involve the use of a pot measuring 22,619 litres in capacity.
“I’m making the executive decision to cook 250 bags of basmati rice. The pot is 6 meters wide by 6 meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and about 1.3 meters deep. I’m sure the pot is not going to sink,” she said in the video.
The event is scheduled for September 12, 2025, and is expected to feed an estimated 10,000 people.
The announcement has already stirred excitement among fans and food enthusiasts, with many describing it as another bold step in Baci’s journey of setting culinary records and showcasing Nigerian cuisine on the global stage.
