Hilda Baci unveils mountain of ingredients for world’s largest pot of jollof event [VIDEO]

As celebrity chef Hilda Baci continues her Guinness World Record attempt for the world’s largest pot of jollof rice, the staggering quantities of ingredients required for the historic cook-off have been revealed.

The event, which kicked off on Friday at Eko Hotels in Lagos, began with the cleaning of a specially constructed 22,619-litre pot, measuring about six meters in diameter.

The massive pot is designed to hold enough jollof rice to feed more than 20,000 people.

Videos circulating on social media show the mountain of ingredients assembled for the feat: sacks of pepper, tomatoes, onions, kegs of vegetable oil, cartons of seasoning cubes, and industrial quantities of tomato purée.

Observers noted that the scale of the cooking requires a sizeable support team, with assistants on hand to unwrap seasoning cubes, sort and wash tomatoes and peppers, dice onions, and manage the steady supply of ingredients into the pot.

Hilda, who plans to use 250 bags of rice, hopes to fill the pot to at least 80 percent capacity. The record attempt, however, is not only about size but also about impact.

According to the organisers, the jollof rice prepared will be distributed to the thousands of people in attendance and donated to charity.

The Lagos event is drawing massive attention, with fans, food lovers, and social media creators turning it into a cultural spectacle that blends culinary ambition with community service.
