Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has expressed concern over Nigeria’s low life expectancy, describing it as a reflection of the nation’s deeper systemic problems.
Fayose noted that the country’s low life expectancy goes beyond a health concern, arguing that it influences every aspect of national life, from the economy and business environment to governance and social wellbeing.
He said that in Nigeria, everything seems to lose its value over time, including human life, due to the harsh living conditions and poor governance structures.
He linked the situation to failures within the political system, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of not performing its duties effectively.
According to him, the commission’s inability to conduct credible elections has allowed unfit leaders to emerge, resulting in policies that worsen living standards and shorten life expectancy.
