ICPC raids El-Rufai’s home

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday searched the residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The development was disclosed by his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, in a post on Thursday.

El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ubong Akpan, condemned the action, describing it as unlawful and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights.

The ICPC later confirmed that the former governor is in its custody.

The latest development comes a day after El-Rufai was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) shortly after his release on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Reports indicate that the DSS picked him up in connection with allegations that he unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
