If Nnamdi Kanu shows remorse, I’ll seek his pardon – Sheikh Gumi says

Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi  has said he’ll be at the forefront calling for the pardon and amnesty of convicted IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, if he shows genuine remorse.

Recall Dockaysworld reported that Kanu was convicted on seven counts of terrorism by the Federal High Court in Abuja and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Gumi was queried about advocating for bandits and he claimed he was advocating for the country instead and that he’d extend the same advocacy to Kanu if he called for peace.

He explained that his method was necessary as the army was not built to withstand the numerous threats it faces.

“This Kanu that was imprisoned for terrorism for agitating that our soldiers should be k!lled, if this same Kanu now will show remorse and also call for peace, honestly, I will be in the forefront in calling for his pardon and amnesty for him.

“Look, Shagari, our president, we are from the same town. Shagari gave amnesty to Ojukwu. Look at Umar Yar’Adua; he gave amnesty to the Niger Delta militants, who have also committed acts of terrorism. So, this is how we are,” he said.
