Insecurity: Defence minister holds emergency meeting with service chiefs


Nigeria’s Defence Minister, retired General Christopher Musa, is currently holding an emergency security meeting with military chiefs in Abuja.


The talks are currently taking place at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters.
Insecurity is currently top of the agenda. Military bases in the North-East are currently under attack.

Three Nigerian Army Commanding Officers, all of the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, are also confirmed dead following a terrorist attack in Borno State.


Around the table are the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass.
The National Intelligence Agency and other security bodies are also currently represented.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
