The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has shared the names of top-performing candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination over the past 12 years.
This announcement was made on Wednesday during a press briefing in Abuja by the Board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.
He said that while the 2025 UTME had a high rate of failure, the best result recorded this year, a score of 374, was the highest in more than 15 years.
For the year 2024, Olowu Joseph Oluwasijibomi, Alayande David, and Orukpe Joel Ehijele all scored 367, tying as the highest scorers.
In 2023, Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere topped the list with a score of 360.
Adebayo Eyimofe Oluwatofunmi scored 362 in 2022 to emerge the best for that year.
In 2021, Monwuba Chibuzo Chibuikem led with 358.
The top scorer for 2020 was Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwu Agnes, who achieved a score of 365.
For 2019, Ezeunala Ekene Franklin came out top with 347.
In 2018, Galadima Israel Zakari scored 364 to lead all candidates.
The 2017 result showed Akingbulugbe Precious Ayomide as the best, with a score of 353.
In 2016, two candidates, Akenbor Adesuwa Osarugue and Anonye Victory Emenike, both had a score of 359, sharing the top spot for that year.
Ilukwe Lottachukwu Geraldine led the 2015 list with 332, while in 2014, Onomejoh Princewill scored 299 to top that year.
For 2013, Olise Israel Chukwunalu also recorded 299, making him the highest scorer for that year.
The Board released the full list to show the best performances across each year, noting that despite the challenges in the education system, some candidates have consistently achieved excellent results.
