JoBlaq, whose real name is Oyadare Emmanuel Gbolahan, was born on July 14, 2004, in Lagos, Nigeria. He is from Osun State but grew up in Lagos.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oyadare, raised him to be hardworking. As a teenager, his father often took him to construction sites to work and earn a few bucks. In a 2024 interview with Discova, JoBlaq shared that he earned 2000-2500 naira at these jobs but left because the work was too strenuous and the pay was low. During this time, he discovered his interest in content creation. He started exploring this passion by creating videos and sharing them on social media, and gradually, he began to grow a following on the platforms.

Being the only child of his parents, he grew up with a sense of responsibility to take care of his mum and dad. His parents also ensured that they provided the best things he required to become successful. After completing his secondary education, he attended Crawford University, a private institution in Nigeria, for his undergraduate studies.

Although he is currently out of school to pursue his content creation dreams, he plans to return to complete his degree once he has established a stable foothold in the industry. Outside of his family,   has really supportive friends, who have helped him become the successful streamer he is today.

Early Interest in Music

JoBlaq’s creative journey started back in secondary school. His friends often complimented his vibe and energy, which gave him his confidence and planted the idea of building a name people would shout, literally: “Jo Blaq!”.

Switching Lanes to YouTube Pranks

When singing didn’t work out as he hoped, he decided to try something new. He started a YouTube channel and posted prank and comedy videos. His early work got noticed, though his mother thought the pranks were a bit much and advised him to stop.

When he first started creating content, he made longer videos, but after a friend suggested trying shorter clips, things changed. The short videos helped him reach more people quickly, and his followers started to grow.

The Turning Point

After gaining followers with his short videos, he found even more success through livestreaming. Many of his streams went viral, especially when he interacted with women from other countries. He became known for pranking white women online, sometimes by pretending to be rich or living overseas.

Building an Organic Fan Base

JoBlaq stood out because people could relate to him. His videos didn’t seem staged, they felt real, like they came from someone just like his viewers. This originality helped him build a loyal fan base.

From Content to Singing Again

As his online presence grew, JoBlaq returned to singing. Even without a record label or much money, he recorded songs by himself. His hard work paid off when his track “Jo Vibe” got a remix with Zinoleesky and went viral, hitting 947,000 views on YouTube and 6 million on Spotify. So far he has released two albums titled ‘Blaq Gold’ and ‘What They Do’, he also has an interesting discography of hit singles.

One of those is his friendship with Peller, who never misses the chance to hop on a stream with JoBlaq and show up to support him at events and content shootings. Another one of his friends is Sandra Benede, a streamer who also engages with his content and collaborates with him regularly..
