Labour Party Senator Defects to APC

Senator Kelvin Chukwu, who represents Enugu East Senatorial District, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His defection was announced during Wednesday’s plenary session in the Senate.

The move follows a recent wave of defections by Labour Party lawmakers in Enugu State, including two House of Representatives members from the same district who joined the APC recently.

Chukwu’s defection, however, has drawn criticism from some stakeholders in his constituency, who described the decision as disappointing given the circumstances that led to his election in 2023.
