Lagos Gov intervenes as lady moves belongings to police station seeking accommodation over excessive heat

The Lagos State Government has intervened after a young woman reportedly took her belongings to a police station in Yaba, seeking accommodation due to excessive heat.

The incident first gained attention on social media when an X user shared that the lady had earlier booked an Uber from Lekki to Panti, claiming she wanted to “file a case” because the sun was too hot.

He wrote:

“This tall, beautiful, well-dressed lady booked an Uber from Lekki to Panti at the rate of N15k to come and file a case at Panti that the sun is too hot. The driver broke down and said that it was his first job for the day. How can you differentiate a mad person from a normal person?”

Days later, the same user gave an update, revealing that the lady had returned to Panti, saying she wanted to rent an apartment there. He added that she slept outside the station with her bags packed, insisting she would not go home.

He wrote:

“This girl has come again today, saying she wants to rent an apartment in Panti. She slept outside all through without going home after coming to report that the sun was too hot. Her bags full of clothes are outside Panti; please, she really needs help. Repost, someone might know her.”

He further explained that police officers and drivers had been inconvenienced by her repeated trips from Ajah to Panti, with one officer even paying for her ride home, only for her to order another ride and return.

He added:

“This is the bag she brought to get an apartment in Panti. The people who are suffering from her hand are the drivers. She booked them from Ajah to Panti without them knowing that she is not normal. A police officer paid for her ride to go home; she ordered another ride and came back.”

Following widespread concern online, the Lagos State Government has stepped in. In an update shared on X, Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed the intervention.

He wrote:

“UPDATE: The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development under the leadership of Hon. @Mo_ogunlende have gone to Panti to rescue the young lady and conduct necessary findings on her case.”
