Liverpool 1-0 Flamengo: Roberto Firmino gives reds club world cup glory

Roberto Firmino’s extra-time goal saw Liverpool lift the Club World Cup trophy after a hard-fought win over Flamengo in a
feisty final.

The two teams could not be separated in the first half of the in Doha, with no shots on goal being recorded by either side in what was at times a bad-tempered encounter.

The Reds, as they did in the first half, came firing out the blocks in the second period and Firmino was unfortunate to see an early effort hit the post.

The clash went to extra time as Sadio Mane was denied a penalty right at the death, with the referee controversially overturning his decision after a lengthy VAR delay.

But Liverpool finally got the goal they deserved when Firmino fired home in the first half of extra time – and the Reds held
on to clinch their first piece of silverware of the season.
