Liverpool took another step towards their first Premier League title with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah got the goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who remain unbeaten this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are the only side to take points off Liverpool this season but their task was made harder on Merseyside without talisman Marcus Rashford.

Liverpool took an early lead through Virgil van Dijk and had the ball in the net two more times before the break, but both were ruled out.

Van Dijk was deemed to have fouled David de Gea in the build-up to Roberto Firmino’s goal before Gini Wijnaldum was denied by the linesman’s flag.

Liverpool dominated the second period but couldn’t find a second with De Gea keeping the visitors in it before Salah raced clear in added time.

The win takes Liverpool 16 points clear of champions Manchester City in the race for the title.
