Residents of a Lagos estate were thrown into shock on Thursday night after a young woman, identified as Deborah Porsche (Debporsche), was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, simply identified as Lintex, nearly a year after their relationship ended, Dockaysworld reports.
According to a family member, the suspect had reportedly refused to move on since the breakup in August 2024, frequently threatening that “If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I no marry you, blood go flow.”
Deborah’s sister, who spoke to a reporter, described the deceased as a “hardworking girl and interior decorator” who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
She alleged that Lintex had been emotionally abusive during the relationship, which led Deborah to walk away last year.
On the night of the incident, Lintex allegedly disguised himself as a dispatch rider and attempted to gain access into the estate where Deborah lived.
Security guards stopped him at the gate, but he reportedly scaled the fence and made his way to her apartment. In a shocking turn of events, the suspect was said to have tampered with the gas cylinder line outside Deborah’s apartment, allegedly attempting to trigger an explosion.
When the plan failed, he reportedly forced his way into the apartment and stabbed her multiple times with a knife he had brought along.Neighbours, alarmed by the commotion, rushed to the scene and alerted the police.
The suspect was subsequently subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers.Confirming the incident, police authorities said investigations are ongoing and assured that justice would be served.
Deborah’s death has sparked outrage online and renewed conversations about gender-based violence, with many Nigerians demanding stronger legal protections for women against abusive partners.
This is when tooth for a tooth should be applied. Why not jungle justice? Why law enforcement agent?
