At the Enugu Maximum Prison on Saturday 4th of August, a prisoner named Pa Celestine Egbunuche, turned 100 years making him the oldest Nigerian prisoner.
Pa Egbunuche who hails from Akokwa in Imo State was jailed together with his son and an 87 year old relative over the alleged killing of a person during a tight fight over a plot of land.
An NGO, Global Society for Anti-corruption (GSAC), is currently pressing for the release of Pa Egbunuche and his family who have spent over a period of 17 years in jail.
