Member of Danfo Drivers music group ‘Mad Melon’ dies from illness

One half of the veteran Nigerian music duo, Danfo boys, Omeofa Oghene popularly known as Mad Melon, has died after battling with an undisclosed illness.

The singer died in a Lagos hospital on Wednesday, the 25th of September. 

Mad Melon and his partner Mountain Black had become popular in 2003 when they dropped the hit song ‘danfo driver’. They had gone on to release 3 albums together. 

Music icon icon, Daddy Showkey confirmed news of Mad Melon’s passing on his Instagram on Thursday, September 26, 2019.

“What kind of sad news is this, what kind of sad news is this, what kind of sad news is this,” a visibly shaken Showkey says in the video.

“Oh my God, we just lost somebody, I just heard it just now. I’m not happy at all, I’m not happy. When dem go dey tell people make dem dey hear, make dem dey hear.”
