Military takes action after alleged assassination attempt on Yerima
The Nigerian military has deployed personnel and eight patrol vehicles to Gado Nasko Road in Kubwa after Lieutenant A.M. Yerima was reportedly trailed by unknown individuals on Sunday evening.
The movement of the convoy was observed around 7 p.m., raising concerns for the officer’s safety.
Sources report that the suspects, dressed in black, were driving two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates.
They allegedly followed Yerima from the NIPCO Filling Station off Line Expressway to Gado Nasko Way.
Around 6:30 p.m., the officer noticed the surveillance and took evasive action to avoid the suspected assailants.
The military confirmed that the incident is under investigation and is being handled carefully.
Details are being withheld to prevent compromising the process.
The alleged threat comes shortly after Yerima, while on duty with other security personnel, had a confrontation with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over a disputed land site in Gaduwa District, Abuja.
