National Grid collapses second time in 5 days

Nigeria’s national electricity grid collapsed again on Tuesday morning, causing widespread power outages across the country.

Data from the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) showed that by 11:00 a.m., electricity generation had fallen to zero megawatts, cutting supply to all 11 electricity distribution companies nationwide.

The incident marked the second grid collapse in five days.

Recall Dockaysworld reported that the national grid collapsed on Friday, January 24, 2026, dropping power generation and allocation to zero for all 11 DisCos nationwide, forcing homes and businesses to rely on alternative power sources, while only Aba Power remained unaffected.
