Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala takes action against creator of false report blaming FG over Trump invasion threat

Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has revealed steps she’s taken against an individual behind a false report attributed to her which condemns the Nigerian government in its issues with President Trump.

The WTO DG stated that the report was wrongly attributed to her and used to criticize the Nigerian government regarding the recent Trump invasion threat over alleged genocidal killing of Christians.

In a post on her official X account on Friday, Okonjo-Iweala denounced the viral statement and warned the public to beware of scammers spreading misinformation in her name.

She wrote:

“Beware this story going around on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook is false! We are taking action! The person who did this could not even spell my name. Whichever coward did this should write the message in their own name and not hide behind mine or anyone else’s!! Scammers and 419ers stop!”

The fabricated post, which was circulated with the misspelled name “Dr Ngozi Okonjiwuala,” was titled “TRUMP DIDN’T ‘HIT’ US – OUR LEADERS DID.”

It appeared to criticize Nigerian leaders for negotiating with bandits and failing to address security challenges.

Okonjo-Iweala clarified that she had no connection to the message and that measures were being taken to track and hold the perpetrator accountable.

She urged Nigerians to verify all information through official sources before sharing, noting that such false claims are capable of misleading the public and damaging reputations.
