Nigeria breaks silence over US, Israel attack on Iran

The Federal Government has reacted to the reported joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, saying it is closely monitoring the situation.

In an advisory issued Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Middle East as volatile following the attacks and Iran’s retaliatory actions in parts of the Gulf region.

In the statement seen by Dockaysworld, Nigerians residing in Iran and neighbouring Gulf countries were urged to remain vigilant and avoid military, government and other strategic locations.

The government advised citizens to limit non-essential movement and stay away from large gatherings until tensions ease.

It also directed Nigerians to comply strictly with safety directives from local authorities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

The ministry urged citizens to rely on credible news sources and official channels for updates, warning against misinformation.

It added that Nigerian embassies in Tehran, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are on alert to provide consular assistance.

The government reaffirmed that the safety of Nigerians abroad remains a priority and called on parties to de-escalate and return to negotiations in the interest of global peace.
