A Nigerian activist identified as Ibrahim Garba Wala, has bagged a 12 year jail term, after being found guilty of defamation and incitement.
The social commentator who is said to be the convener of Citizens Action to Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN), was found guilty in the 3 of the 4-count charges brought against him by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), and they include managing unlawful association, public incitement and defamation of character over social media posts against the chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abdullahi Muhammed.
On Count 2, Wala was sentenced to seven years, while on Counts 3 and 4, the activist bagged three and two years respectively.

The activist was accused of using his Facebook page to incite the public against the NAHCON bosss and also defamed him and the commission.
He claimed the NAHCON boss “made N3 billion for himself” from the 2017 Hajj operations. He also failed to produce the documents in his Facebook post, he claimed can back his claims in court.
