Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered N3.8 million in ransom money during a successful operation in Kogi State.
The operation, carried out on November 2, 2025, by troops of the 12 Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oguma, followed credible intelligence on kidnapping activities along the Itobe–Adumu–Ejule axis.
According to Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Brigade, the troops received reports that relatives of some victims were attempting to deliver ransom payments to secure their release.
Acting swiftly, the soldiers moved toward Achigili Forest to intercept the bandits.
While en route, the troops came under fire from the kidnappers but overpowered them after a brief exchange.
The criminals fled into the forest with gunshot wounds, abandoning two victims and the ₦3.8 million ransom money.
The rescued victims were safely evacuated, debriefed, and the recovered money returned to them.
They remain in safe custody pending handover to relevant authorities.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid security operations across the state.
