Anambra governor’s aide announces resignation

Senior Special Assistant on Administration to Anambra Governor Charles Soludo, Jude Emecheta has resigned from his role.

His resignation comes months before the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

His decision to resign is seen by many as a blow to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as it comes during an active campaign period.

Emecheta was once a major figure in the Anambra South senatorial by-election and previously led the state’s signage and advertising agency.

Although Emecheta cited personal reasons for leaving the Soludo administration, reports are suggesting he may be aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support its candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, in the upcoming election.

However, he explained that he simply wanted to focus on his family and private business.

Emecheta is known for his long involvement in Anambra politics.

Since 1999, he has played different roles across political parties.

He first gained recognition in the People’s Democratic Party before joining APGA, where he led groups that helped mobilize support for both former Governor Willie Obiano and the current Governor Soludo.

During his time as head of the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency, he helped grow the agency from a small office into a fully structured organization with greater revenue and presence.
