Shock and anger have trailed reports from Edo State that a 20-year-old woman, Sarah Aghahowa, was allegedly poisoned by her stepmother shortly after securing admission to study Nursing.
Sarah had reportedly gained admission into the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, Dockaysworld gathered.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred on Thursday in Jemilla community, near Ramat Park along the Benin-Agbor Road in Benin City.
According to a viral video seen by Dockaysworld, a mob of residents could be seen attempting to hold the alleged culprit accountable.
Reports of the incident have since spread across social media, with some users alleging that Sarah’s late mother had also faced similar persecution in the past.
Activists and community leaders have called for calm, urging members of the public to allow due process to take its course rather than resorting to jungle justice.
As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Police are yet to release an official statement, and the veracity of the allegations has not been independently verified by Dockaysworld.
