The football match between Kano Pillars and Enugu rangers in the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) ended in violence as the referee had to run for his dear life when fans and players went after him.
Kano Pillars had taken a lead in the 54th minute of the game with a well placed free kick. Moments later there were calls for a penalty by the Pillars players and fans but the referee, Quadri Adebimpe, waved them off.
Few minutes to the end of the game however, Quadri awarded a penalty to the Rangers side prompting more outcry.

The Captain of the Kano Pillars team, Rabiu Ali who scored the first free kick had another free kick delayed due to the agitation of the crowd and the final whistle was blown just after he finally took the kick, ending the match 1-1.
Rabiu went after the referee first demanding to see his stoppage time as he felt the whistle was blown too early.
The referee had to run for his life as more players came for him and fans began to invade the pitch.
