Nigerian senator set to dump party for ADC
Senator representing Bayelsa West at the Senate, Seriake Dickson is reportedly set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sources close to the former governor said he is already considering the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a new platform.
His expected exit has been linked to the ongoing uncertainty within the PDP and his plan to return to the Senate in the next election cycle.
Dickson, who has remained vocal against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Senate, is believed to have quietly built ties with the ADC.
Those familiar with the development said he backed the appointment of some politicians into ADC positions, showing he has maintained contact with the party for some time.
Political associates said that the PDP ticket for another Senate run is not guaranteed for him, which may push him to the ADC where he can contest without internal hurdles.
They also said Dickson has the network, resources and long-standing structure to secure victory in his senatorial district regardless of the party he chooses.
However, some Bayelsa politicians argue that the ADC lacks wide acceptance in the state.
They said Dickson can win on his own strength but cannot determine outcomes in other districts if he leaves the PDP.
The senator has not publicly announced any decision, leaving his final choice still unknown.
