Nigerian traditional musician, John Zuya, popularly known as John Mai Molo, has died after reportedly consuming a poisoned meal in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident happened shortly after the singer returned from Lagos on October 16, 2025, where he had performed at various cultural events.
He was said to have suddenly felt sick and collapsed not long after eating the suspected food.
Zuya was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi but was confirmed dead upon arrival.
His close friend and fellow musician, Emma Wakili, announced his passing in a Facebook post, saying the artiste died around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
The deceased’s body has been placed in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy, while authorities have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
