Nigerian TV presenter slumps, dies at work


A broadcast journalist with the Ogun State Television (OGTV) station, Bukola Agbakaizu is dead.

According to Vanguard, she slumped on Monday at the station’s premises while getting ready to begin her afternoon shift.

She was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Idi-Aba, where doctors confirmed her death.

Agbakaizu, who was 52 years old, was known for her active involvement in the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council.

She was also an Ex-Officio member and a respected figure among her colleagues.

Before her passing, she was said to have been consistent in managing her health condition, particularly with her high blood pressure medication.

The news of her sudden death has left the journalism community in Ogun in deep sorrow.

Members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in the state described her passing as unexpected and painful.

They remembered her as a caring person who gave her best to her job and always looked out for others.

Colleagues recalled her passion for journalism and her dedication to helping others grow in the profession.

She was not only known for her work on television but also for the way she treated people around her—with kindness and support.

She is survived by her two children and her family.
