The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rainfall across various states from Monday, July 21, to Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
According to the agency’s three-day weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, rainfall is expected in the northern, central, and southern parts of the country, with varying intensity.
On Monday, early morning rain is likely in Taraba, Adamawa, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Kaduna.
In the afternoon or evening, more thunderstorms and rain may occur in Adamawa, Taraba, Kebbi, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Yobe.
In the central region, cloudy skies are expected in the morning with possible light rain in parts of Niger State, followed later by thunderstorms and rain in Plateau, Nasarawa, Abuja (FCT), Kogi, Benue, and again in Niger.
The southern part of the country may begin the day with cloudy weather.
Light rainfall is expected in the afternoon or evening over Imo, Abia, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
For Tuesday, sunny skies with clouds are expected in the morning over most northern states, with rainfall likely later in the day in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Jigawa, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna.
In the central region, morning rain is expected in Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa, while Niger, Abuja, Plateau, and Nasarawa may witness more rain later.
Southern states will see more rainfall in the afternoon or evening in Ondo, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa.
On Wednesday, the morning may bring rain to Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Taraba, followed by more rain in Yobe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Bauchi, Borno, and Kebbi later in the day.
Central states such as Abuja, Plateau, Niger, and Kwara are also expected to experience moderate rainfall in the afternoon or evening.
In the South, morning showers may fall in Enugu, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, while heavier rainfall is predicted later in Ebonyi, Abia, Edo, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
NiMet advised residents to prepare for strong winds that may come before the rain.
Safety tips include securing loose objects, avoiding driving under heavy rain, unplugging electrical appliances, and staying clear of tall trees.
Travelers, especially airline operators, are advised to seek accurate weather reports before setting out.
