Nnamdi Kanu lists sickness he’s battling in DSS custody

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has raised fresh alarm over his deteriorating health while being detained by the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a letter to the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kanu disclosed that he is suffering from tinnitus, sleep deprivation, and several organ-related diseases.

He explained that the persistent ringing sound in his ears and lack of proper rest have worsened his hypertension, putting him at risk of stroke, collapse, and sudden death.

The detained IPOB leader also mentioned that he has been diagnosed with ailments affecting his liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder, prostate, and brain’s white matter.

According to him, the tinnitus and sleep apnea have made his condition unbearable, as the continuous noise in his ears often prevents him from sleeping.

Kanu stated that the medical team in DSS custody once considered draining fluid from his inner ear but later abandoned the idea due to fear of permanent hearing loss.

Since then, he said, his condition has not been properly managed, despite repeated complaints and over 50 blood samples taken.

He accused a DSS doctor identified as Dr. Nasiru Mohammed of altering his medical records to make it appear that his potassium levels were normal, even when they were dangerously low.

Kanu claimed that he continued to experience frequent nosebleeds, fainting episodes, severe headaches, chest pain, and swelling of his feet under the doctor’s supervision.

The IPOB leader further alleged that his personal physician, Dr. Cfine, who had treated him for years, was denied access to him and intimidated into silence until the intervention of Emeritus Professor Martin Aghaji, a well-known surgeon.

According to Kanu, Aghaji’s involvement brought a temporary improvement to his health, as his potassium level rose slightly, and his nosebleeds, fainting spells, and swollen feet reduced.

However, the tinnitus, he said, still persists and continues to make his life miserable.

He accused the DSS of frustrating both doctors who attempted to offer genuine medical assistance, saying their actions show disregard for his worsening health and the danger he faces if proper treatment is not urgently provided.

Why still in DSS custody after remanding him. It’s uncostitutional to be in the DSS custody instead of recreational center. I wonder why Nigeria constitution are undermine by our leaders without right of questioning. Then we are blaming the military jotters that they treated civilian’s with iputy and we were then glamoring for civilians or democratic government. But as we can see today the civilians administration are more worst that then military jotters. As we all can see today that the judiciary don’snt have there independent right anymore. I here by pread to our leaders to do the right by obeying the constitution of the land to enable common Nigerian have hope and to be proud of our mother country Nigeria please
