The South African government has denied that citizens of the country carried out xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other nationalities.
This was made known by High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, as he convened with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in Abuja this morning.
Monroe revealed to newsmen that the reported attacks were not xenophobic in nature as no nationalities were specifically attacked, rather they were ‘sporadic acts of violence’s’

He added that even native South Africans and their businesses were affected by the attacks on homes and shops.
