Nollywood Actor Duro Michael Dies After Long Battle With Illness

Nollywood actor Duro Michael has passed away after struggling with health challenges for many years.

His death was confirmed on Thursday by a colleague, days after he died.

Michael had been living with diabetes for a long time, a condition that worsened to the point where one of his legs was amputated.

He later appealed for help to acquire an artificial limb.

In 2022, he received a N5 million donation from Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin to aid his treatment, but his health continued to decline.

In 2024, the actor publicly pleaded with filmmakers not to sideline him but to give him roles.

He stressed that he was seeking opportunities to work and not handouts, showing his determination to continue acting despite his condition.

Michael, who featured in movies such as Midnight Love (2003) and The Guilty (2006), had earlier been listed among Nollywood stars facing serious health challenges and relying on public support.

His passing has once again raised concerns about the struggles of actors battling illness without enough support from the industry.

Earlier this year, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president Emeka Rollas spoke on the recurring losses in Nollywood and urged for stronger structures to assist ageing entertainers.
