Mega Nigerian Rapper Olamide has responded to the heated backlash that followed his recent comment naming Wizkid as the greatest Afrobeats artiste after Fela Kuti, snubbing Davido and Burna boy.
The YBNL boss made the remark during an outing abroad when he was asked a question about his collaborations with Wizkid.
He stated that Wizkid was the best Afrobeat artiste after Fela. His choice quickly went viral, sparking arguments among fans particularly those of Burna Boy and Davido, who felt Olamide had taken sides in the long-running “big three” debate.
Addressing the controversy, Olamide said the entire conversation had been exaggerated and that ranking artistes did nothing to diminish anyone’s achievements.
He stated that people were free to support whoever they believed in, adding that “there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone.”
He further noted that Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid were secure enough not to take offense at another person’s opinion, saying their open-mindedness was part of what brought them to their current heights.
He wrote:
“Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose—there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone.
However, one thing to remember is that Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion or perspective. That’s part of why they’ve reached where they are today.”

Despite the online clash, Olamide maintained that his comment was simply a personal perspective, not an attempt to undermine any artiste’s legacy.
