Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has explained his decision to drop Jesse Lingard from his match day squad against Watford at the weekend.
Lingard and Andreas Pereira
both failed to even make the bench as the Red Devils beat the Hornets 3-0 at Old Trafford.
The pair had both featured at Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday night but the likes of Tahith Chong and Odion ighalo were preferred on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to Reporters, Solskjaer said:
“We’ve picked a squad of 18 that we felt it was the right 18 here.
“We’ve got cover on the bench for wide-men, forwards, midfielders and defenders so that was a decision I made.”
Lingard has been under criticism this season and could search for a new challenge in the summer
