Osun Governor Sends Fresh Message to Tinubu

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has again appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the release of the state’s withheld local government allocations, Dockaysworld reports.

The message was conveyed in a statement on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi.

In the statement, the governor insisted there is “no legal or political basis” for the continued seizure of the funds.

He cited the June 13, 2025, Court of Appeal judgment which upheld the validity of the February 22 local government elections that brought in the current chairmen and councillors. According to him, no judicial order exists to justify blocking the allocations.

The statement alleged that the President was unaware of the decision until it was reported by Nigerian Tribune during the recent Eid holiday, and claimed the move was initiated by the Attorney-General of the Federation without presidential approval.

Governor Adeleke described the action as politically motivated, warning that it was hurting grassroots communities rather than his administration.
