Parrot arrested for warning drug dealers of police presence

A parrot has been taken into custody for alerting two alleged drug dealers in Brazil when police arrived for an undercover drug raid. 

According to Brazilian media Oliberal, the parrot squawked “Mama, Police!” in Portuguese to alert its owner in Teresina, Brazil. 

Police however ended up taking a man and woman into custody despite the birds attempts to alert its owners.

Drugs, including crack and marijuana, were reportedly found at the property, as well as large amounts of money.

The parrot has refused to speak since its detention and police believe that it was trained to recognize police cars. 

Meanwhile, the bird is being kept at a zoo in Teresina, a city in northeastern Brazil, report says.
