Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Umeh, has stated that her colleague, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, does not accept kissing or romantic roles in movies.
Umeh made the claim during a recent episode of the Where Is The Lie podcast, where she attributed Chukwuka’s decision to her Catholic upbringing.
“Chioma Chukwuka was brought up in a very Catholic home. She doesn’t accept kissing or romantic roles in movies. I’m saying this out of experience. She was a legionary. She has been a good girl,” Umeh said.
Chukwuka, who has built a reputation as one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, is known for often portraying decent and family-oriented characters on screen. Her career spans more than two decades and includes multiple award-winning performances.
However, contrary to Umeh’s statement, Chukwuka has featured in romantic roles in a number of films.
Most recently, in the movie Seven Doors, she shared a kiss with fellow actor Femi Adebayo, an instance that appears to contradict the claim.
The remarks have sparked renewed discussion about how Nollywood actors navigate personal values and professional demands in the industry.
