The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a change in the venue for its Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting after armed security operatives sealed off its national secretariat in Abuja.
In a statement posted on the party’s official Facebook page, the PDP directed all BoT members to converge at the Yar’Adua Centre in the Central Business District instead of the original venue at the party headquarters.
According to the announcement signed by the party’s management, the BoT meeting, which was initially scheduled for 10 a.m had to be moved due to the unexpected lockdown of the secretariat.
Eyewitnesses reported that security personnel not only prevented the meeting from taking place but also barred other party staff from entering the premises.
Some BoT members who had already arrived were reportedly chased out of the building before the relocation was officially communicated.
