PDP governor speaks on leaving party after visiting Tinubu
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reacted to rumours that he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The talk of defection began after he visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday, a visit that quickly gained public attention.
The governor, who was accompanied by his brother Deji Adeleke and music star Davido, met with Tinubu at his residence in Ikoyi.
The meeting sparked different reactions, with some linking it to possible political moves.
However, Adeleke’s team has said the visit was only a family visit and not related to politics.
A statement from the governor’s spokesperson explained that there was nothing political about the visit.
He said Governor Adeleke is still firmly with the PDP and has no plan to join any other party.
According to him, any reports suggesting otherwise are false and aimed at causing confusion.
Meanwhile, the APC in Osun State has also reacted to the rumours.
The party said it is not in any form of discussion with Adeleke or his camp.
A top member of the party and former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, told the press that the APC is not interested in bringing Adeleke into their fold.
He added that the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election is not open to outsiders, and there is no deal in place with Adeleke or his supporters.
